Euro Demolition & Dismantling Ltd were awarded the contract to demolish all buildings on a former colliery site in Alloa, Scotland. This is one of several contracts completed for our client since 2016 – 2018.
Works included the removal of all contaminated materials from within the various buildings on site, which had lain empty for many years. All contaminated materials removed, were stored in a designated area, before being removed from site by the relevant licenced waste removal company.
Following removal of all contaminated materials we then cleared the buildings of all office equipment, pipes, pumps and motors and all other ancillary items within the buildings.
All buildings were demolished down to slab and all rubble and aggregate stockpiled in an agreed area of the site for future processing by the client.
Demolition was carried out using the relevant demolition excavator with various attachments using a top down method of demolition, working progressively around the site, one building at a time.
We also carried out the demolition of a large concrete chimney structure.
Following the demolition of the buildings, we carried out the explosive demolition of the head gear tower to ground level, utilising the services of a specialist contractor. Following the blow down of the structure all metals were separated by an excavator with shear and selecta grab attachments, cut to length and removed from site by our recycling partners.
